Welcome to Luxury Tours of Mount Vernon
A Passionate Traveler
When you visit a new destination do you enjoy touring with your own professional guide? Do you like hearing the local perspective on the sites you are visiting? If so, these full and half day tours are great choices for you. Luxury Tours of Mount Vernon is ready to serve your every need. From helping you plan a detailed itinerary, to providing luxury transportation and commentary, all you need to do is sit back, relax, and explore.
There is no better way to see and enjoy the wonderful historic sites just outside Washington, DC. Getting to Mount Vernon and the other sites is not easy on your own, even with a car, and large tour buses provide no flexibility, visit at the busiest times, and give you the feeling of being herded.
This is a private tour. We will not add others to your group, but you may if you wish.
Your concierge tour will be led by a long time local resident who lives on land once part of the original Mount Vernon Estate. He is a former Mount Vernon Estate history interpreter who retired from the US Department of State.
I am offering the full day 8-9 hour private tour for $250 per person, including $28 Mount Vernon admission fees! (minimum 2 persons).
I am also offering half day 4+ hour private tours for $165 per person, including $28 Mount Vernon admission fees! (minimum 2 persons)
Pickup and return free to Alexandria or Crystal City area hotels,Huntington metro station (Yellow line), or National Harbor. If staying in DC, I recommend taking an Uber or Lyft to Embassy Suites, 801 N. St. Asaph Street, in Old Town Alexandria for pickup

Plus inside tips from a local
This is not a pre-set package – you choose the stops that best meet your interests. Some sites mentioned are open only on certain days and seasons, but Mount Vernon is open every day. Our tours are available all year, seven days a week.
At Mount Vernon, your private guide will lead you through the extensive grounds, but Mount Vernon docents will lead you on a timed public tour through the Mansion itself. The same is true for Woodlawn and Gunston Hall. We will obtain your Mount Vernon tickets before we pick you up to minimize any wait times at the Mansion. A private tour will be given at Pohick Church (built in 1774) and other sites. You will tour the Museum of the United States Army on your own.

Q&As
How much walking will be involved in the tours?
There will be as much as you desire – it’s your day! Mount Vernon is quite large, but wheel chairs can be provided if necessary and we have room for a walker. To be honest, though, it will be a full day with quite a bit of walking to take full advantage of the sites. But it’s your tour, so we’ll rest and take breaks whenever you desire. We will provide cold water and umbrellas if necessary.
What should I wear on the tour?
Dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes. In summer, shorts are fine and a hat is a good idea. In winter, wear gloves, scarfs, and coats.
Is the tour appropriate for children?
Yes, it can be a long day, but children over five are welcome. We can customize the tour to help keep them engaged and having fun.
Are you affiliated with the Mount Vernon Estate?
No, we are an independent local tour company that specializes in concierge tours to a number of historical sites in the Mount Vernon district of Fairfax County, Virginia, including the Mount Vernon Estate, Woodlawn Plantation, Gunston Hall, and Pohick Church.
What about lunch?
Full day tours will eat lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant if available (not included in price)
What is your cancellation policy?
Reservations may be cancelled up to 24 hours for a refund (minus $30pp for Mount Vernon tickets if previously purchased by LTMV)
